Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Fighters Group

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a wide array of characters, and a thrilling plot featuring angels, fiends, and sinister influences growing in strength within Dol-Makjar.

Warning: Revealing details for the latest installment of Campaign 4 are included.

The Soldiers Table Unveiled

Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and revealed the initial group of characters who will branch out from the primary party to embark on their separate journey, distinct from the other two tables.

The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (played by Travis), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).

Dividing the Cast

With 13 cast members, it was clear from the outset that keeping everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.

That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Prelude, weaving together the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Schemers, and Seekers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

According to the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for adventurers who are drawn to a classically intense fight-heavy narrative style where diplomatic options are scarce.

At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might look mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment demonstrate why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the combat party.

Why They Must Go

To begin with, the team has a clear idea where to head next after a violent first encounter with the enemy group.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose passing kicked off the campaign’s events—exploited the foes for his own means, breaking into the secret base, striking Thimble, and taking all the magical artifacts to dispose of.

Casimir then settled his debts and fled to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the urban center, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each character has a personal reason to depart Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, seeks vengeance.
  • The adventurer has experience in the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
  • The strong character and The healer, having resisted his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • However, their status as important members in House Halovar could help the group access areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Additionally, The grateful character pledged a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

In addition, all of them are sought by the authorities that control the city for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:

  • The rogue and The hero are known criminals.
  • The warrior and The cleric defied House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
  • The fighter is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.

This leaves them few options but to journey toward the remote area in quest for the antagonist.

Future Episodes

From the recent installment’s Cooldown, we discover that the combat party won’t be around the following episode, leaving the remaining eight cast members to form the Questers and Schemers tables.

Viewers can expect learning which adventurers will be in which group in the story’s last Overture episode, streaming live on next week.
